Controls Engineer

Education

Four-year degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience is desirable, but not required.

Work Experience

Two (2) or more year’s verifiable experience in PLC/HMI/SCADA programming and systems engineering in industrial applications using one or more mainstream platforms: Allen-Bradley, Schneider, GE, Siemens platforms.

Ideal Candidate

Since DST Controls’ engineers work in a number of different industries and work with several different hardware and software platforms, the number one characteristic we look for in a candidate is love of learning new things, whether it involves Rockwell’s latest and greatest product or a customer’s newest nettlesome control problem. Skills We Look For

  • Competency in using Rockwell Automation Products, WonderWare, iFix, Cimplicity HMI/SCADA software.

  • Ability to read P & ID’s, flow diagrams, and electrical schematics.

  • General knowledge of networking and communication protocols, e.g., EtherNet, Modbus, Profinet, IO-Link. ControlNet and DeviceNet.

  • Capable of completing projects within a budget.

  • Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD.

  • Identify control system components and use a bill of materials to meet project requirements.

  • Follow project cost estimates.

  • General knowledge of process instrumentation.

  • General knowledge of programming and configuring Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).

  • Good communication skills: oral, written and listening.

  • General knowledge of, or interest in, mechanical systems and manufacturing equipment.

  • Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team as needed.

  • Flexibility when required to work outside of normal business hours as required by clients’ needs.

  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).

Requirements

Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean DMV record.




Business Development – Control Systems

Education

Four-year degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience

Work Experience

3+ years of industrial control Sales or Systems Engineering experience (SCADA, HMI, PLC, VFD etc.)

Description

As Key member of DST Controls’ Sales Team, duties include but are not limited to…

  • Engage with existing clients and partners to establish, scope-out, and quote new project opportunities

  • Drive quote estimation and proposal generation processes

  • Occasional Trade Shows (mostly SF Bay Area) as attendee or exhibitor

Core Skills

  • Be able to do P&ID I/O point take-offs

  • Be results-oriented vs Time Clock oriented

  • Professional competence with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, and Power Point

  • Have excellent speaking and writing skills.

  • Be a fast learner and curious about how things work in industrial environments.

  • Be a team player and good collaborator (“It’s about what’s right, not who’s right”)

  • Have good driving record and be able to pass occasional drug and alcohol tests, as mandated by some of DST’s customers.

  • Have experience in any of following industries: Life Sciences, Water & Waste, Food & Beverage, Energy (fossil & alternative).

  • Be experienced with one or more of the following: Rockwell, GE, and Siemens industrial control hardware and software.

  • Strong computer skills and competency in Microsoft Windows OS, Excel, Word

Additional Skills

  • Experience with PLC and SCADA programming

  • Experience with SSRS and SharePoint

  • Experience with OSIsoft PI or Rockwell Software Products

  • Experience with Ethernet networking devices, such as routers, switches, and NIC
