DST CONTROLS NAMED AS ONE OF REGIONS
FASTEST GROWING EXPORTERS
BENICIA, CA - (June 11, 1999) - DST CONTROLS was recognized by SF
Business Times for posting the highest gains in exporting revenue from
1996 to 1998. Joining the ranks of other well known Bay Area based
companies such as Robert Mondavi, PowerBar, Honeywell-Measurex, and JR
Schneider, DST received this recognition from the Business Times and
Database Publishing, a southern California research
firm.
DST has taken
advantage of its perch on the eastern edge of the Pacific Rim to launch
many of its products westward into Asia. Despite the current Asian
economic difficulties, demand for DST's semiconductor related specialty
gas cabinet controllers and engineered life safety systems has remained
strong. The SF Business Times recognized DST's contribution to the
roughly $100 billion in exports and imports which pass through the San
Francisco US Customs District. It is believed this trade directly and
indirectly helps to support an estimated 1.5 million jobs in the Bay
Area.
The list of
companies recognized in the annual report covered in a diverse spectrum
of businesses including shipping scrap metal, finished semiconductors,
and food products. Destinations included Poland and Panama as well as
Mexico and Malaysia. DST CONTROLS CEO William P Southard said of the
announcement "I am pleased to see our company's name listed among other
Bay Area superstars. But, I am more pleased that we have been able to
achieve this recognition while maintaining our commitment to serving our
domestic clients."
